Alex and Jackie
When people ask, I like to say I’m a storyteller, but here in Ireland I am merely a visitor in a nation of storytellers; and here in Dublin I was lucky enough to spend the evening in the presence of Master Storyteller, Johnny Daly – and Johnny was at the top of his game. It was an enthralling evening of Fairy Tales, Folk Law and Traditional Music.
The perfect hosts for the evening were the Brazen Head, Dublin’s oldest pub, who kept me fully supplied with Guinness and piping hot Irish Stew.
Thank you, Johnny and the Brazen Head for a great evening.
I shall be in Ireland for the last week of June for some background research for Feathered: being a fairy tale. Dublin and County Tipperary are on the itinerary and some other places in the pipeline, depending on how much Guinness gets in my way.
It’s Summer in the City in Luxembourg. Kindle owners can celebrate with our summer sale. First Night and The Elf of Luxembourg on sale in the Amazon Kindle store for just $0.99.
Whenever Alexandra Caroline O’Rourke, AKA Alex, met with trouble, she generally blamed her younger sister, Jackie. And Alex’s sudden engagement to marry a Viking prince, against her will, probably classified as trouble. If nothing else, a wedding held in 9th century Ireland would make it difficult to invite her friends from San Diego.
Regardless of blame, Jackie was the only person who could help Alex, but Jackie was still in the 21st century. And Jackie had her own problems. It had stopped raining. And this, of course, meant that the fairies had stopped singing. If Jackie could not find a way to make it rain, marauding Vikings would be the least of their worries, because this is Feathered and this is an Alex and Jackie Adventure.
